The distribution of donated sports equipment and kit from Sport in Action’s partners, the Wallace Group in the UK, took place on Friday May 26th. The distribution was conducted by the Sport in Action (SIA) National Hub-Site coordinator and the Sport Specific National Coordinators and Development Officers. The distribution took place from the project house, where an assortment of kit and equipment was collected and distributed to different Hub-Sites nationwide.
The primary objective of the distribution was to enhance sport development in various communities and promote inclusivity through sports. SIA’s core values are sports development, sport for development, and inclusivity. By distributing the sports equipment and kit across different Hub-Sites, SIA aims to provide equal opportunities for children and youth to participate in sports and improve their skills both on and off of their respective sports grounds.
The donated equipment included footballs, netballs, basketballs, soccer boots, sportswear, and other accessories. The equipment was in good condition, and the Hub-Site coordinators were thrilled to receive them. They expressed gratitude to Sport in Action and the Wallace Group for their support and partnership in improving sports development in Zambia.
Mr Frank who is Ellensdale Hub-Site coordinator stated that the equipment received is important in fostering the increase of participants numbers at the site.
“We will guard these equipments jealously because they are the most important equipment we have now.” He said.
Furthermore, the Kaunda Square Hub-Site coordinator Mundeya Siamutwe had the following to say.
“as Kaunda Square Hub-Site, we are grateful for the equipment and kits because now kids will be more motivated when training and playing in their new kits, it will even lead to more participants being enticed to come through and join.” She said.
The distribution of the donated sports equipment and kit will help Hub-Sites to organize more sports activities and programs for children and youth. It will also promote a healthy lifestyle, physical fitness, and teamwork. The equipment will be used in games, training, and community tournaments, which will enhance social cohesion and inclusivity.
In conclusion, the distribution of donated sports equipment and kit from the Wallace Group in the UK across Hub-Sites nationwide is a significant milestone in promoting sport development and inclusivity in Zambia. Sport in Action’s core values of sports development, sport for development, and inclusivity continue to guide their work in improving the lives of children and youth particularly women and girls through sports.
