GIRLS BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT HELD IN CHELSTONE TO PROMOTE GIRLS PARTICIPATION

Chelstone, a small neighborhood in the heart of the city, proved that when it comes to empowering young girls through sports, it can make a big impact. On December 2, 2023, the Sport In Action Girls’ Basketball Tournament took place with support from the community. The tournament aimed to raise awareness and ignite a passion for sports among girls from neighboring communities.

With a total of 36 enthusiastic participants and the guidance of three dedicated coaches, the tournament proved to be a resounding success. The event not only provided a platform for talented athletes to showcase their skills but also conveyed a powerful message, encouraging girls to break through societal barriers and pursue their passion for sports.

Agness Lupasha, the basketball development officer, expressed her satisfaction with the outcome, stating, “The tournament was a success and highly encouraging. Witnessing the talent and enthusiasm displayed by these young girls has further motivated us to make this an annual event.”

The tournament attracted girls from various communities, each representing their respective Hub-Site and neighborhoods. It created an atmosphere filled with camaraderie and healthy competition, fostering an environment that emphasized teamwork, skill development, and sportsmanship.
