LOCAL NETBALL TOURNAMENT BRINGS COMMUNITIES TOGETHER

On Thursday, July 18th, 2024 Mtendere Community School hosted a thrilling local Netball tournament, bringing together over 45 participants from five teams in a friendly competition. The teams in attendance were AVO, Mtendere A and B, and Chainama.

Gideon Mumba, Sport In Action’s National Netball Development Officer, took the opportunity to donate Netball jerseys to the participating teams on behalf of SIA and its partners. “We handed out jerseys to all the teams present today to appreciate and motivate them to continue participating in Netball,” he said.

Mumba also announced plans for an inter-site Netball tournament, emphasizing the importance of friendly competition among participants. “This encourages mingling and friendship-building among children from different sites, while also providing a platform for life skills and Girls In Action sessions to equip them with knowledge on various topics affecting their communities,” he added.

Site tournaments demonstrate Sport In Action’s commitment to using sports as a vehicle for social change in communities. By promoting Netball and providing spaces for children to enjoy themselves, SIA aims to empower young people and foster positive relationships among participants.
