Mutenguleni Hub-Site (Eastern Province)
In a surprising twist of fate, Mutenguleni Hub-site, located in the eastern province of Zambia, has its roots deeply ingrained in the southern province. Created as a part of the game changers initiative, Mutenguleni Hub-site brings the spirit of netball to the youth of Zambia. Spearheaded by Mr. Stanislaus Mansaya and nurtured by the guidance of Monica Chidila, the national Hub-site coordinator, Mutenguleni Hub-site has become a thriving sports community boasting 11 teams and over 260 participants. Notably, the majority of participants are young girls under the age of 16.
The Mutenguleni Hub-site is an exciting example of how initiatives can shape the development of sport in rural areas. Born from the game changers initiative, Mutenguleni Hub-site is a product of the nationwide rollout of Hub-sites and netball across all provinces in Zambia. While it remains situated in the eastern province, its origin lies in the southern province, capturing the essence of unity and inclusivity.
Mr. Stanislaus Mansaya played a pivotal role in bringing the Mutenguleni Hub-site to life. Guided by the insights and knowledge imparted by Monica Chidila, the national hubsite coordinator, Mansaya was able to create a hub-site that matched the vision and objectives set forth by the game changers initiative. The information made available to him became the cornerstone of Mutenguleni Hub-site’s success story.
Since its inception, Mutenguleni Hub-site has flourished into a vibrant sports community. The hubsite is home to 11 teams, with participants coming from various backgrounds and skill levels. Undoubtedly, the majority of participants are girls aged not more than 16 years old. This significant inclusion of young girls reflects the hubsite’s commitment to empowering and nurturing the potential of young female players in the region.
Mutenguleni Hub-site has transformed into a hub of enthusiasm with participants benefitting from the numerous advantages that come with participating in sports. Netball offers not only physical exercise but also instills key values such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. Through the sport, participants develop essential life skills that extend beyond the court, preparing them for a future of success in all aspects of life.
