Sport in Action holds induction at British high Commission in lusaka Zambia.
Sport in Action held it’s induction ceremony for the Volunteer Zambia group 2 UK volunteers at the British high Commission earlier today.
The Volunteers will be in the country for 8 weeks working hand in hand with the Sport In Action Zambian coaches to build on the solid foundation laid by group 1 that completed their 8 weeks on 28 April 2023.
The volunteers are set to enhance and make a positive impact on the local community through sport development programs and coaching clinics.
The VZG 2 students where welcomed by the Director of Sport In Action, Mr. Frankson Mushindu alongside the coordinators and sport specific development officers.
During the induction ceremony, the volunteers were given a briefing on the cultural norms of Zambia ,Health and safety,overall programming of Sport In Action and were also introduced to the Zambian coaches who will be working closely with them.
Mr. Mushindu thanked the British High Commission for their continued support and collaborative efforts,stating that the ceremony was a sign of the good partnership between Sport in Action and the diplomatic community in Zambia.
Speaking at the event, the British High Commissioner to Zambia, Mr. Nicholas Woolley congratulated the volunteers and emphasized the importance of the work they will be doing in promoting sports development in Zambia.
The commissioner also urged the volunteers to immerse themselves in the Zambian culture and gain as much knowledge and experience as possible during their stay.
The VZG2 volunteers are expected to be on ground running in the coming days as they begin to roll out their various programs in and around Lusaka, with a focus on empowering young people through sport.
With the foundation laid by the group 1 volunteers, the stage is set for the group 2 volunteers to make an even bigger impact in Zambia.
