Zambian U18 National Basketball Teams Advance To Next Round in Afro Basket Zone VI Qualifiers

Three Sport in Action (SIA) developmental sports sites across Lusaka have made a significant contribution to the Zambia National U18 Basketball team, with four players selected for national duties. George Likezo (Kabwata Tigers U18), Shilla Mukemu (Kabwata Tigers Girls), Elizabeth Tembo (Chipata SIA Scorpions), and Gift Mbewe (Kanyama Panther Warriors U18) were named in the 12-man national Team rosters for the Afro Basket Zone six qualifiers.
The tournament was held on June 28-29, 2024, at the Nasdec Sports Complex in Lusaka, Zambia. Both the male and female teams emerged victorious in their two-leg games played against Zimbabwe, advancing to the next round of the competition.
Sheila Mukemu expressed her excitement and dedication to representing her country, stating, “It’s a great honor to represent my country, and I feel good about it. I’ve been working hard, and it’s finally paying off.” She encouraged her fellow female players to keep pushing themselves to excel, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and hard work.
